Matthew D. Barnhart, DVM, MS, DACVS

Dr. Matthew Barnhart received his Bachelor of Science degree with special honors from George Washington University, and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, he completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Oradell Animal Hospital.

Dr. Barnhart pursued his residency training in small animal surgery at The Ohio State University, during which time he also completed a Master of Science degree in veterinary clinical sciences, researching pain control in dogs. Since 1999, Dr. Barnhart has been a Staff Surgeon at MedVet Medical and Cancer Center for Pets in Worthington, Ohio.
Dr. Barnhart lectures nationally and internationally on orthopedic-related topics and has published extensively on small animal surgery and pain control. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and is active within the college as a Foundation Board of Trustees member and as a member of the Public Outreach Committee. He is a member of AOVET and is actively involved in veterinary orthopedic implant design and research.
