Course Description:

  • Veterinary Interlocking Nail (ILN) fracture fixation concepts, biomechanics and evolution of ILN fracture fixation
  • Surg'X ILN system presentation, technical features, indications and clinical evaluation.  for surgical management of long-bone fractures
  • Pre-operative surgical planning and various approaches using ILN systems
  • Step-by-step instructions on surgical technique review, hands-on dry bone application and hands-on wet lab application 


Course Objectives:

  • To understand the biomechanical principles of Interlocking Nail (ILN) fracture fixation 
  • To understand indications for ILN in the surgical management of long-bone fractures
  • To understand pre-operative surgical planning using ILN 
  • To develop familiarization with and appropriate use of ILN instrumentation and implants
  • To understand the post-operative management of patients
  • To identify potential complications and how to avoid and deal with them
  • To learn and practice the ILN surgical planning and technique taught in the ILN dry lab (canine) and wet lab (canine and feline)
