Monofilament Sterilization Instructions

1. The SECUROS monofilament suture may be steam sterilized!
2. Do not autoclave the entire spool, only what will be used in surgery.
3. The monofilament may be placed with other instruments in the autoclave.
4. Do not autoclave the monofilament more than once.
5. You may use standard steam autoclaving settings.

***Numerous biomechanical studies have been performed to prove that the SECUROS monofilament nylon may be steam sterilized. The studies showed that there was no significant change in physical or mechanical properties of the monofilament after steam sterilization. Because it is possible that ethylene oxide residuals may be present in gas-sterilized nylon, the monofilament nylon should be steam sterilized.
