1. Who originated the crimping system for cruciate repair?
Crimp tubes have been used for quite some time; however, they have not been made of surgical implant stainless steel. SECUROS was the first to offer these tubes produced from implant material and polished so that they may be classified as an implant. SECUROS is also the originator of a precise, error-proof, crimping tool and tensioning device.

2. What is the difference between the SECUROS crimping tool and other crimping tools?
There are a few important differences. The most important difference is with the amount of crimp the tool delivers. The SECUROS crimper delivers a very precise, measured crimp. What this means is that when you crimp using the SECUROS crimper you crimp down on the nylon the exact amount. When crimping down on nylon it is important that you don't crimp too much, which causes the nylon to break and that you don't crimp too little, allowing the nylon to slip. The SECUROS crimper only allows a certain degree of crimp, therefore, ensuring that you do not over or under crimp the nylon. The other crimpers are not precise crimping tools, they rely on how much or little you "squeeze" the tool. There is no way of knowing if you crimped the tube enough, too much or too little.

Another difference is in the basic tool operation. The SECUROS crimping tool is a high quality, double action tool, which comes with a lifetime guarantee. The double action mechanism allows the surgeon to easily crimp the crimp tube. SECUROS is the only company that offers a double action crimper.

3. Do I need to purchase the tensioning device that comes with the system?
No you do not. The tensioning device is included in the system price, however, if you do not want to purchase the tensioning device just let your SECUROS sales person know. The tensioning device is optional but adds a lot to the system. When you use the tensioning device you can apply precise, incremented tension to the suture loop without having to use physical strength. The device is also a locking instrument so that you can test for cranial drawer and range of motion prior to crimping the tube.

4. Is there a difference between the SECUROS crimp tubes and other crimp tubes?
YES, there is a difference! The SECUROS crimp tubes are produced from the highest quality implant grade stainless steel and are polished to remove all contaminants and sharp edges. The other big differences are that the SECUROS crimp tubes are readily available and 33% less expensive!

5. Do I have to use the 80 lb. Mason leader line with the SECUROS crimper?
YES. The SECUROS crimping tool was designed around the Mason 80 lb. leader line. In order to ensure a precise crimp you must use the 80 lb. Mason material. The SECUROS system is designed so that the right amount of crimp is achieved every time. In order to do that we had to design crimp tubes and a crimper for specific size nylons. If you do not use a crimper that is precise to the nylon there is no way of knowing how much or how little you crimped the nylon. The 80 lb. nylon has been clinically tested in 10 lb dogs and up. (SECUROS will also be offering a crimp tube for 40 lb. nylon. The tubes will be used with the same crimping tool used with the 80 lb. nylon.)

6. What can SECUROS offer me that other suppliers cannot?
SECUROS is a company that specializes in veterinary orthopedics, specifically fracture repair and joint and ligament stabilization. SECUROS has engineers, scientists and veterinary orthopedic surgeons that have designed and tested all of the SECUROS products. These same individuals are available to answer technical and surgical questions. Because SECUROS designs, manufactures and sells all of its own products you can be assured that we know our products front and back. Other suppliers tend to be whole sellers of a large variety of products. They do not have the expertise or knowledge that SECUROS offers in veterinary orthopedics. Other suppliers also sell only through distributors, which are even less specialized in the product design and usage. SECUROS sells direct removing the middleman.

7. Can I use the SECUROS system with the Bone Biter anchor system?
Yes. SECUROS takes specialty orders for crimpers that can be used with the 60 lb. leader line, which is the preferred leader line for the anchor system.

8. What kind of guarantee comes with the SECUROS system?
When you turn to SECUROS, you're assured of the utmost quality. In fact, we are so confident with the quality of our products, if you are not 100% satisfied you may return the item for a full refund. We not only meet customer satisfaction we exceed it! So, take advantage of the highest caliber veterinary orthopedic products you can get.
